Weights and dimensions in the units your store actually uses
"Metric or imperial" turned out not to be enough. Plenty of BigCommerce stores run in grams, and a weight of 900 means something very different in grams than in kilograms. This release makes the unit explicit everywhere.
One Units setting
Settings → General now has a single Units choice:
- Metric: grams, cm
- Metric: kilograms, cm
- Imperial: pounds, inches
- Imperial: ounces, inches
It replaces the separate measurement-system and weight-unit settings, so the two can never contradict each other.
The editor says which unit you're typing in
Weight and dimension fields in the product editor, including on channel tabs, are now labelled with your organisation's unit. If a weight looks like it was entered in the wrong unit, for example a garment that weighs a fraction of a gram, the editor warns you.
Shopify is told the unit
Shopify stores a unit with every weight. Fulify now tells Shopify the unit your numbers are actually in, rather than assuming one.
What to do
- Open Settings → General and check that Units matches how each of your stores is set up.
- If some products were entered in a different unit, correct their weights. For lots of products, export them, fix the column and re-import.
- Sync the products you changed.
