How channels work
A channel is a store you've connected to Fulify: a BigCommerce store or a Shopify store. Fulify is the source of truth for your catalog. You enrich products, brands and categories once in Fulify and sync them out to your channels. Nothing is copied back from a channel into Fulify.
Apps such as Linnworks aren't channels. They don't sell anything and don't count towards your plan's channel limit. See How the Linnworks integration works.
Channels are peers
There's no default or primary channel. Every channel is its own destination and is treated the same way. A product can be on one channel, several or all of them, and you can connect more than one store on the same platform.
Products go only where you assign them
A product reaches a channel only after you assign it there, either with Add to Channel in the product editor or in bulk from the Products list. Syncing sends a product to the channels it's assigned to and nowhere else. Which channels a product is on is your decision: a sync never changes it.
Before you assign, Fulify checks that the channel can accept the product: that it has a SKU, that its brand and categories exist on that store, and so on. See Sync products to a channel.
Three switches decide what leaves Fulify
Each product has three switches under Visibility & Status in the editor:
| Switch | What it controls |
|---|---|
| Sync | The master switch. Off means the product stays in Fulify and reaches no channel and no app. |
| Channel Sync | Lets Fulify update the product on your sales channels. Off means channel syncs are refused and edits stay in Fulify. It can only be turned on while Sync is on. |
| Show on Storefront | Whether customers can see the product on the store. It only applies once Sync is on. |
This lets you set a product up in Fulify, or send it to your warehouse system, before its listing is ready to go live.
Shared data and overrides
Most product data is shared: one edit to the main product updates every channel the product is on, at its next sync. When one store needs something different, open that store's tab in the product editor and turn off Pull from main record. You can then override fields for that channel only, and set channel-specific prices and SKUs for each variant. See Sync products to a channel for the full list.
Brands and categories have per-store IDs
Every store issues its own IDs for brands and categories. Fulify keeps a separate link for each store, so a product sent to one store never picks up another store's brand or category. See Brands and categories on your stores.
What Fulify doesn't send
Stock quantities. Fulify never sends stock levels to a channel. Your order or warehouse system (for example Linnworks) owns physical stock and updates your channels itself. Fulify does send the product's inventory tracking setting (don't track, track by product, or track by variant), because the wrong setting can keep sold-out sizes on sale however your warehouse system sets the numbers. The product editor warns you when the tracking level doesn't fit the product's variants.
Images it didn't upload. Fulify updates and removes only the images it uploaded itself. Photos added directly on a channel, by you or by another app, are left alone.
Disconnect keeps everything
Disconnecting a channel doesn't erase it. Its sync history, product assignments, per-channel and per-variant overrides, and brand and category links are all kept, but hidden: products, brands and categories stop showing a status or errors for that store. If you add the same store again later, it's reconnected with everything as it was, rather than created as a new, empty channel.
Remove from channel vs. delete from Fulify
These are different actions:
| Action | What happens |
|---|---|
| Remove from channel | The product is hidden (archived) on that store, so order history and its URL survive, and it stops syncing there. It stays in Fulify and on any other channels, and you can add it back later. Its overrides for that channel are removed. |
| Delete from Fulify | The product is removed from your catalog and hidden (archived) on every channel it was on. It isn't hard-deleted on the stores. |
