Sync products to a channel
Syncing sends your Fulify product data out to the stores a product is assigned to. This page covers assigning products to a channel, the ways to sync, what each status means, and how to give one store different values from the rest.
Before a product can sync
A product syncs to a channel only when all of these are true:
- Sync is on. It's the master switch under Visibility & Status in the product editor. Off means the product stays in Fulify.
- Channel Sync is on, in the same section. Off means channel syncs are refused and edits stay in Fulify.
- The product is assigned to the channel.
- The product has what the store needs: a name, a product type, a base price and valid images. BigCommerce also needs a weight and at least one category. When you assign a product, Fulify also checks it has a SKU.
If a sync is refused, the message names what's missing, for example "Channel Sync is off for this product" or "This product has no categories, and BigCommerce requires at least one".
Assign products to a channel
- One product: in the product editor, click Add to Channel and choose the store. The product gets its own tab for that store.
- Many products: on the Products list, select them, click Channel in the bulk bar and switch the store on in Channel & App Assignments.
Fulify checks the products against the store before assigning them. Problems that would make the store reject a product, such as a missing SKU, no categories on BigCommerce, or a brand or categories that don't exist on that store, stop the assignment. A dialog lists them. Click Assign anyway (or Add anyway for one product) if you're about to fix them on the store. Smaller problems, like a product whose categories are only partly on the store, are shown as warnings. See Brands and categories on your stores for the full list.
Ways to sync
| Where | What it does |
|---|---|
| Sync button in the product editor (Main Record) | Syncs the product to the channels it's assigned to. If it's on two stores of the same platform, such as two Shopify stores, Fulify asks which channel you mean; sync each one from its channel tab. |
| Sync Channel on a channel tab | Syncs the product to that one channel. |
| Sync to Channel on a product's row in the Products list | Syncs that product to its channels. |
| Sync in the Products bulk bar | Syncs every selected product. |
| Sync All Products on Settings → Sales Channels | Syncs every product assigned to that channel. |
Channels sync independently. If one store rejects a product, the others still get it, and Fulify tells you which channels worked and which didn't.
Saving a product doesn't push it. When you save changes to a product that's already synced, it's marked Pending on its channels so you can see it needs another sync.
Sync status
Each product has a status for each channel it's on. The Channel sync card in the product editor lists them, and the Products list can filter by status.
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Synced | The channel has the product as it is in Fulify. |
| Pending | You've changed the product since its last sync. |
| Syncing | A sync is in progress. |
| Error | The last sync failed. Hover the status to read why. |
| Not synced | The product hasn't reached this channel yet, or its sync is switched off. |
Turning a product's sync off isn't treated as an error. The product shows as Not synced until you turn sync back on and sync it.
Per-channel overrides
By default, every channel tab pulls from the main product record. To give one store different values:
- Open the product and click the store's tab.
- Turn off Pull from main record.
- Change the fields you want to override for this channel.
- Click Update Channel, then Sync Channel.
You can override:
- Name, subtitle, description and short description
- Base, sale, retail and cost price
- SKU, UPC, MPN and GTIN
- Weight and dimensions
- SEO: page title, meta description, meta keywords, search keywords, custom URL and Open Graph text
- Visibility, featured and sort order
- Condition and availability, including preorder settings
- Shipping, returns and warranty text, free shipping and fixed shipping price
- Thumbnail image and custom sections
Attributes are global and can't be overridden per channel. A channel tab's category picker greys out categories that aren't on that store.
Per-variant channel overrides
On a channel tab, Variants on this channel lets you set, for each variant:
- SKU
- Price
- Sale
- Cost
- Retail
Leave a field blank to inherit. The blank field shows the value the variant will get: price, cost and retail fall back to the product's values for that channel. Sale price doesn't inherit, so a blank sale price means no sale price.
Removing a product from a channel
On the product's channel tab, click the bin and confirm Remove. The product is hidden (archived) on that store, which keeps its order history and URL, and stops syncing there. It stays in Fulify and on its other channels, and you can add it back later.
Images
Fulify only manages the images it uploaded. Photos added directly on a store, by you or another app, are never removed by a sync, and images that were already on the store are matched rather than uploaded twice. The product editor shows how many images Fulify manages on each store.
Stock and inventory tracking
Fulify never sends stock quantities to a channel. Your order or warehouse system owns stock and updates your stores itself.
Fulify does send each product's Inventory Tracking setting (Don't track inventory, Track by product, or Track by variant). Getting it right matters: a product with variants that tracks stock at product level can stay on sale in sizes your warehouse has sold out. The editor warns you when the setting doesn't fit the product and offers a one-click switch, and the Products list has an Inventory filter, Doesn't Match Variants, to find every product that needs fixing.
