Add a product
Creating a product starts with a few required fields. You can fill in as much of the rest as you like straight away, and some sections open up once the product has been saved for the first time.
Where to find it
On the Products list, click Add Product. You can also use Add Product under Quick Actions on the Dashboard.
Create a product
- Enter a Product Name (required).
- Choose a Product Type: Physical Product or Digital Product (required). Physical products get weight and dimension fields and shipping options.
- Enter a Base Price (required). BigCommerce won't create a product without a price.
- Optionally add:
- SKU: your stock-keeping identifier. Channels and apps such as Linnworks match products by SKU, so it's worth setting now.
- Brand: pick an existing brand, or create a new one on the spot without leaving the form.
- Categories: tick categories in the tree, or create a new category on the spot.
- Anything else in the editor: descriptions, images, pricing, SEO and so on.
- Click Create Product in the save bar at the bottom of the page.
Fulify saves the product and takes you back to the Products list.
New products start with Sync, Channel Sync and Show on Storefront all switched off, so a half-finished product can't reach a channel by accident. Turn them on when the product is ready. See Sync, Channel Sync and Show on Storefront.
What unlocks after the first save
Some sections attach data to an existing product, so they're available only once the product has been created:
- Options & Variants
- Attributes
- Customs & Compliance
- Documents (in the Media section)
- History
Create the product first, then open it again from the Products list to fill these in.
Other ways to add products
- Duplicate an existing product from its row on the Products list. The copy gets "(Copy)" added to its name and "-copy" added to its SKU. It starts hidden, with Channel Sync off and no custom URL, so you can finish it before it goes anywhere.
- Import a CSV to create or update many products at once. See Import products.
- Seed from BigCommerce if your catalog is empty. See Import your catalog.
- Use the API to create products from another system. See the API reference.
