Import products
There are two ways to bring products into Fulify: a CSV import, which is the everyday way to create and update products in bulk, and a one-time seed from BigCommerce for an empty catalog.
CSV import
On the Products list, click Import CSV. The importer walks you through four steps.
1. Upload
Drag and drop a .csv file, or click to browse. Click Download Template for a correctly formatted starter file, including the columns for variants.
Each import can contain up to 500 rows. If your file has more, only the first 500 are imported, so split large files into batches.
2. Map columns
Fulify reads your column headers and matches the ones it recognizes automatically (marked Auto). For each remaining column, choose a product field under Map To, or leave it skipped.
- SKU is the key. A row whose SKU matches an existing product updates that product.
- A row with a new SKU creates a product, and needs a Name, Type and Price.
If you import the same kind of file regularly, click Save current mapping… to save the column mapping and pick it next time under Saved mapping.
3. Preview
Click Preview. Fulify does a dry run without changing anything and shows:
- How many rows will be created, updated or will error.
- The planned action for each row.
- Any brands or categories in your file that don't exist in Fulify.
- For variant files, how many variants will be built across how many products.
4. Import
Click Apply (the button shows how many changes will be made) to run the import. When it finishes you get a summary of created, updated and failed rows.
Every change made by an import is recorded in each product's history, labelled as an import. See Product history.
Accepted columns
Fulify recognizes common header names, including:
- Name (or title), SKU, Type (physical or digital) and Price (or base price)
- Description and Short Description
- Brand (or manufacturer)
- Categories, with several separated by semicolons
- Weight, Width, Height and Depth
- Sale Price, Retail Price (or RRP, MSRP, compare at price) and Cost Price
- UPC (or barcode, EAN), MPN and GTIN
- Condition (New, Used or Refurbished), Availability (available, disabled or preorder) and Inventory Tracking (none, product or variant)
- Visible, Featured and Free Shipping
- Page Title, Meta Description, Search Keywords and Sort Order
- Thumbnail Image URL, and Images (gallery image URLs separated by semicolons)
Two special header patterns add extra data:
customfield:Nameadds a custom field called Name.metafield:namespace.keyadds a metafield.
Brands and categories must already exist in Fulify. Unmatched brands are left unset and unmatched categories are skipped, and both are listed in the preview so you can create them first.
Importing variants
The same importer handles products with variants, using one row per SKU:
- Row Type: simple (a product without variants), parent (a product with variants) or variant.
- Parent SKU: on each variant row, the SKU of its parent product.
- Option1 Name and Option1 Value, up to Option3: the variant's options, for example Color and Blue.
- Variant-only columns: Bin Picking Number, HS Code, Country of Origin, Tax Code, Inventory Warning Level, Purchasing Disabled, Is Default Variant and Variant Image URL.
On variant rows, the usual columns (SKU, price, weight, barcodes and so on) carry the variant's own values. Leave a shared field blank to inherit the parent's value, or enter [CLEAR] to empty it deliberately.
Option types and values are matched by name, and created if they don't exist yet. The variants in your file replace the product's existing variants, so include every variant you want to keep.
Seed from BigCommerce
If your catalog is empty, you can seed it once from a connected BigCommerce store: brands first, then categories, then products. Go to Settings → Import from Channel. See Import your catalog.
Shopify catalogs are seeded with a CSV import instead. Once your catalog is seeded, use CSV import to add and update products.
